Back to School.
I have restarted my Masters. I am going to finish this time, eventually. This semester I have business system programing and System development. During my reading in the system development book, I came across "An Information Architect standardizes the following Database technology, software technology, and interface technology".
This was a big duh for me. I would like to take it to the extreme, standardize on one Database. If you are going to go with Oracle, use Oracle for everything. Standardization gives you an efficiency of scale. I have never worked in a shop where we only had one Database technology. As I move into an Architect role, I am going to push for standardization of database technology, Software technology (ie; IDE, desktop), and Interface technology.
